Today, I am 37. This is what I have learned.
1. It is okay to change your mind based on new information. It is a strength to be flexible in your thoughts, beliefs, and identity.
2. You are your decisions over time. You can make mistakes, try different things, have unique experiences, but you are ultimately what you do consistently. So, choose healthy habits.
3. What you think of as a weakness, someone else may respect as a strength and visa versa. Therefore, do not judge yourself because ultimately, you are exactly who you should be right now. You are not a finished product, so be kind to yourself and be excited about who you will become.
4. Show yourself unconditional love and compassion. This is sometimes hard to do because we compare ourselves to others too often. Find time for self-care and self-love. In the long run, if you can learn to love yourself through consistent, thoughtful practice, you will be happier.
5. Whatever happened, happened, and couldn't have happened any other way, because it didn't (Peter Crone idea)
6. You are the accumulation of learned thoughts. So is everyone else. It is your job to critically think about your thoughts and beliefs and find what is true to you.
7. If you are unhappy with the trajectory of any aspect of life, find one small change that can be consistently done, and over time, your path will naturally align and move towards your ideals. Small habits create big results.
8. Do not mistake movement for accomplishment.
9. You define your own purpose.
10. Schedule time to be alone and think.
11. Create space in your mind so you are not reactive all the time. Find a consistent routine of breathwork, meditation, and exercise. You will thank yourself later.
12. It is okay to not know something or have an opinion. Listen more, and don’t just wait for your turn to speak.
13. Make the people around you feel good. Compliment them. Acknowledge them. Listen to them. Love them. You will find that by sharing kindness, you will receive kindness 10x.
I think I just needed to hear all of this
I am pretty excited to see what I learn next.
