Hey all! Welcome... Yes, I know you didn't ask for an invitation to this party. Well, you are here now. So sit back, have a drink, and enjoy. I made a goal early in quarantine to start a newsletter. As the world has become more chaotic, so did daily life, and this project fell to the wayside. That said, I want to get one sent so I feel some sense of accomplishment. If people like the concept and find value in it, we can do more. Also, feel free to forward/share this or let me know if you have people you think would enjoy this content. I'm interested in your thoughts, opinions, morning and daily routines (physically, spiritually, emotionally), your workouts, your supplement in-takes, your content consumptions (youtube, shows, movies), and your overall well-being practices. I feel like there is a lack of "productive content sharing" between people in the world and people I know and respect. Yes, we have group texts. Sure, we share things on social media occasionally. But, it's not often we use "group think" to come up with overall "life best practices". The goal of this is to create a space to share useful information - to get that information out of our noggins to help enhance each other's life. To start... below is some content/approaches/takeaways I have consumed over the last year to enhance my life. My intention is the start pulling routines, ideas, etc from our members and to curate useful nuggets of information for everyone. If anyone has ideas on a better way to make this more of a forum, I'm all ears. I just want to help connect the dots.
THE MIND
You Have to Make Happiness Your Priority - Naval Rakivant
My Take Away
I recommend watching the whole interview. He has some unique philosophies on happiness and wealth creation. Think of it as a real-life practical "mind over matter" approach.
THE BODY
The Real Secret to a Healthy Mind and Body | Aaron Alexander on Health Theory
My Take Away
This influenced me a ton. I've been having body pain for a couple of years now in my hips, knees, and shoulders. I have basically changed my entire philosophy of exercise during quarantine, moving from a heavier full-body "CrossFit-ish" approach to mobility and movement-based calisthenics. This Aaron Alexander interview lead me down a rabbit hole of Ido Portal, Strength Side, and GMB.io - It has fundamentally changed how I look at the body, how I want to functionally move, and how I have been working out. This feels more sustainable to me long-term because mobility is a major cause of problems as you age.
DEEP THINK
My Take Away
As I get older, the less I feel I know. The concept in this video could totally be possible. I get very intense Deja Vu and have a deep sense of having lived other lives and like the connected-ness concept in the video.
NOTE: Check out this channel for other interesting videos and explanations of complicated topics.
THE NUTRITION
My current morning routine:
No breakfast. Intermittent fasting until about noon (or 16-18 hrs passed last meal)
8 oz of water with lemon, pink Himalayan salt, and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
Athletic Greens supplement in water.
Coffee with MCT oil (Dave Asprey or Bulletproof Coffee)
Like him or hate him, I have found that I feel a slower release of caffeine and don't get any type of jitters when I use MCT oil in my coffee.
Other daily supplements: Vitamin D, electrolytes if feeling dehydrated, probiotics (current Onnit Gut Health)
RANDOM NUGGETS What's the Meaning of Life? | Joe Rogan and Naval Ravikant
My Take Away
You create your own purpose and meaning in life. If you knew "the meaning of life", life would be meaningless.
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard | Sam Harris CLICK TO LISTEN Sam Harris is an American author, neuroscientist, philosopher, and podcast host. In Sam’s return to Armchair Expert, he discusses what it means to live an examined life. He touches on the concepts of being deliberate with one’s attention, consciousness as experience, and the value of meditation. Dax believes Sam holds paradoxical interests and Sam admits he is increasingly leaning away from controversy. The two start the episode with an interesting thought experiment and they discuss the complexity of gurus.
THE DEEP DIVE
Never Split The Difference | Chris Voss
My Take Away
Everything in life is a negotiation; whether you are putting your kids to bed, talking to your wife about dinner, or actually negotiating a business deal. Knowing these tools is super important but if you are not careful, you may find yourself feeling manipulative because once learned, you can usually get your way.
I highly recommend the book and/or Masterclass.
THE MUSIC
SAINt JHN "Roses - Imanbek Remix"
Well, that's it for now. It's been months of quarantine, so I have consumed so much useful information but don't want to overwhelm.
Action steps if interested
Message me with links to anything you think people would enjoy. It can be book recommendations, articles you've read, daily or weekly routines, supplements, etc.
To start, I will consume it, and curate as much as possible.
Peace and love y'all!
